When you work in a creative environment, culture is everything. To keep our creative energy flowing and to show appreciation to our staff, my creative partner David Mikula and I started the Goodbye Friends initiative. Each time an employee left, we made something special that catered to their personality. The projects didn't take more than a day or two to finish. It was a great way to get scrappy and make something. Here’s a few examples.
Unleash The Keish
To celebrate our friend Keisha, who loves to wear crazy patterned shirts and loves to dance in the middle of the studio every now and then, we invited our whole staff to embrace her energy and do just that.
Ben was known to dislike Mondays. So much so that one monday he posted a Vine video of himself shouting “f*ck” while running around the office. We invited all his friends to create their very own “f*ck” video and the result now lives on this website.
If you ever meet our friend David, the first thing you’ll notice is his iconic beard. When he left to move to New York, we all wanted to know how it felt to have a beard like him.
Fostering a curious culture
Initiatives like these helped establish a great creative culture that led to the birth of many great self-started projects, including Stanley Piano.
